In this 8-week songwriting course, we'll explore the building blocks of songwriting while encouraging you to write from an honest, authentic place. Throughout the course, we'll develop lyrics that tell meaningful stories, discover chord progressions that support and enhance those stories, and explore melody, structure, and arrangement. Through writing exercises, listening, collaboration, and feedback, you'll leave with new tools, greater confidence, and original songs that reflect your own unique voice. This class is an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and create music that comes from the heart.
Prerequisites:
Ability to play basic chords on a chordal instrument (guitar, piano, banjo, mandolin, or ukulele)
This is not an instrument class; students should already be comfortable changing between chords on their chosen instrument
No previous songwriting experience is required
When: August 21st-October 9th
Time: Friday afternoons 2:00pm-3:15pm
